Our Church

The Syro Malankara Catholic Church, an Eastern Catholic Church in the Universal Catholic communion presided over by the Bishop of Rome, is the ancient Apostolic Church in India founded by the preaching of St. Thomas, the Apostle (the Code of Canons of the Syro Malankara Catholic Church _CPCSMCC, cc.14, 15)

The Syro Malankara Catholic Eparchy in the USA and Canada is established to protect and promote the ecclesial life of the Syro-Malankara Catholic faithful in the USA and Canada, basing itself on the Antiochene spiritual tradition, drawing mainly from the Indian cultural patrimony and witnessing to the positive values of the North American Society.

The appointment of the Apostolic Visitators by the Holy Father Pope John Paul II was an essential milestone in the growth of the Malankara Catholic Community in North America. On December 18, 2015, His Holiness Pope Francis elevated the Exarchate to the status of an Eparchy and extended its territory to include the region of Canada also.

His Excellency Most Rev. Dr Philipos Mar Stephanos officially established the Syro-Malankara Catholic Mission of Niagara Region and appointed Fr. Aji Varghese as the mission's first pastor. Later His Excellency named this mission “St. Peter & St. Paul Malankara Catholic Mission”.

Our families are mainly new immigrants to Canada. They are prayerful, vibrant, and God-fearing, so they regularly participate in the divine liturgy. We formed a parish council to assist the pastor in parish administration in this short period. We organised a melodious choir to help our liturgy. We are blessed to have more than 25 kids. Amongthe half of them are members of Malankara Catholic Children’s League, an organisation in our church that aims at learning the word of God and faith formation. Regular prayer meetings, catechism, and children’s activities (one word-one saint) assist our parents in growing their children in prayer, faith & wisdom.
